Family of Warner Robins teen who died after a wall collapsed on him at Robins Air Force Base holding press conference

Three other boys also suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the collapse. According to a relative of one of the injured boys, they were all friends.

WARNER ROBINS, Ga. — The family of a 14-year-old boy who died after a wall collapsed on him at Robins Air Force Base will hold a press conference with their legal team on Tuesday morning.

The press conference is set to happen at 11 a.m. at 201 Spring Street, an email announcing the conference said.

14-year-old Gabriel Stone died after a concrete wall collapsed on top of him in the restroom area of Heritage Pool at Robins Air Force Base. He died later at the hospital, Houston County Coroner James Williams confirmed.

Three other boys were also injured and taken to the hospital for treatment.

According to a relative of one of the injured boys, they were all friends.

Stone's family wonders how a wall in a pool locker room can collapse on a boy who "simply went to the pool with his dad, brothers and friends on a hot summer day?"

The teen's family is demanding answers following the tragic incident, according to an email about the conference. The email says the family's legal team will conduct an independent investigation into the teen's death.

13WMAZ spoke with Melissa Noles, whose grandson and step-grandson had non-life-threatening injuries in the collapse.

"I did ask my grandson if he noticed anything unusual about the wall and he did say that he noticed some of the mortar had cracked and chipped around the bottom of the wall," Noles said.

She said he noticed this before the wall collapsed. Her grandson suffered a couple of broken ribs and a collapsed lung. She said he may be released from the hospital in a couple of days.

Noles said her step-grandson has already been released from the hospital with minor injuries.

Relatives of the injured boys have set up a GoFundMe to help with medical expenses.

Gabriel's family is represented by Atlanta-based attorneys Rod Edmond, M.D.,J.D. and Shofaetiyah Watson of Edmond & Lindsay, LLP.
