MACON, Ga. — Gabriella Dixon's family is not giving up on the search for her. Now, they are looking for community support to find her with a search.
It's been 29 days since Dixon was first reported missing on October 31. She was last seen the day before.
They say they are not giving up and plan to search at Carolyn Crayton Park and the Ocmulgee Heritage Trail.
Dixon's stepfather, Darryl Searcy says they chose these two locations for a reason.
"One of those places we actually got a tip that we should look in that area, research that area. It's a big area so we want to bring more awareness and if we get more people out, we can cover more area, more ground," Searcy said.
Searcy says her story needs as much exposure as possible.
"We want to keep bringing awareness to it so that she doesn't turn into a cold case that says fresh on people's minds," Searcy said.
The family said they have called the Bibb County Sheriff's Office for updates and have not heard anything. 13WMAZ reached out to the Bibb County Sheriff's Office and they sent us a statement saying,
"The case of Gabriella Dixon’s disappearance is not being ignored. Our investigators are working on her case every day and have given updates when available. We have asked the public’s assistance regarding any information that they may have as well. The information that has been provided is all that is available at this time."
The family has searched East, West, and downtown Macon. They've also called law enforcement in Alabama and Jones County for help.
"They all have been supportive. It's just trying to get Bibb County to support and help out is the obstacle we're running across," Searcy said.
The search this Saturday will be from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Ocmulgee Heritage Trail and 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Carolyn Crayton Park. Searcy said they have received tips from people in the community about where to look for her.
"Even with the phone calls, the text, the tips, people that we didn't know saw what happened some people are coming forward now," Searcy said.
The sheriff's department has called Reginald Harris a person of interest in the case. He is still in jail on charges of shooting at Gabriella and threatening her in the weeks before she disappeared. Searcy says the family is offering rewards in this search for his stepdaughter.
The family is offering $5,000 if they know where she is and can bring her to the family and $1,500 if a tip leads to an arrest and/or conviction.
The family just wants to bring Gabriella Dixon home.
