Relatives share more about 20-year-old shot, killed by Warner Robins police

Warner Robins Police responded to a distress call from the 200 block of North 6th Street, according to a release from the police department.

WARNER ROBINS, Ga. — The GBI has identified the person shot and killed by Warner Robins Police during a Monday night shooting.

In a press release, they say Mikhal D'Anthony Concepcion, 20, was shot and killed by officers during the dispute in the 200 block of North 6th Street in Warner Robins.

To his family, Concepcion was a beloved father, son, grandson, nephew, and uncle.

He was going to turn 21 in October, but his family says they believe he was fighting an internal battle with untreated depression.

The GBI is investigating yesterday's events, but Concepcion's family believes he approached a house where his girlfriend was inside with their 1-year-old child.

Officers responded to the call in the 200 block of North 6th Street around 7:00 p.m. on Monday, according to a press release from the Warner Robins Police Department.

Police were soon called to this scene, where it quickly escalated to a shoot-out between the victim and authorities, according to the report from the GBI.

Multiple Warner Robins police officers were placed on administrative leave after the shooting on Monday, per the release.

Concepcion's family say they never imagined something like this to happen to him, but says he was "fighting his own demons" that led to the incident.

Concepcion's grandmother says she hopes sharing her grandson's story could help increase awareness about young men's mental health.
