'We just don't live in fear': Escaped Bibb inmate's former neighbors unconcerned he's still on the run

Neighbors in the County Oaks neighborhood in East Macon say Fournier no longer lives at the address listed in jail records.

MACON, Ga. — As the search for the three remaining Bibb inmates continues, we went to visit the home of one of them.

52-year-old Joey Fournier, who is accused of murder lives on Candlewick Court in West Bibb County, according to jail records.

Fournier no longer lives in the home. The person currently living there only moved in a year ago. However, neighbors told us you just don’t know who lives next to you.

Tim Joyner, who lives in the Country Oaks neighborhood, says the area is peaceful.

"It's quiet, it's friendly. You know, we don’t really have much trouble around here,” Joyner said.

However, he says the two-minute drive between his and Fourniers' home surprises him.

“We know what people let us see and that's pretty much it until you really get to know somebody,” Joyner said.

In 2022, 52-year-old Fournier was accused of killing his ex-girlfriend, Cynthia Berry. Now he's still on the run after escaping the county jail last Monday.

Joyner says he's not worried about Fournier making his way back to the neighborhood.

“I don’t sit around worrying about things that I can’t control,” he said.

Joy Dickey lives one house away from Fournier's former address, but she’s not worried either.

“If he lived here, it was before our time here,” said Dickey. “We believe in divine protection, my husband also has natural protection. We're not afraid, we just don’t live in fear."

They say they just hope he gets caught.

“I hope he would have a change of heart and ask for forgiveness for what he's done and turn himself in because that's the right thing to do,” Dickey said.

With the capture of one of the inmates, some of the neighbors hope the others could be coming soon.

“I'm glad they caught one [Chavis Stokes]. They could get some clues on where the other ones might be and they should be able to eventually catch all of them,” Joyner said.

We also spoke to Fournier's next-door neighbor, who did not want to speak on camera, but said she could often hear him arguing with someone and would see him driving his pickup truck.
