An announcement from Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger says the special election will be held February 4.

If a runoff is needed, the announcement says, it will be held March 3.

Qualifying for the special election is this week in Atlanta, and January 9 is the last day to register to vote in the special election.

District 13 includes parts of Crisp, Dodge, Dooly, and Wilcox Counties.

Kirk was from Americus. He passed away last month and had served in the Legislature since 2014.
