There will be no mud-flopping, no toilet-seat tossing, no pigs-feet bobbing in East Dublin this summer.
Organizers of the annual Redneck Games say they'll take the year off, for the second year in a row.
The games started in 1996 as a parody of the Atlanta Olympics. It drew visitors from all over and camera crews from across the world.
The event typically featured mock competitions, like the toilet-seat toss, watermelon-seed spitting and the mud flop, music and food.
But Larry Drew of the East Dublin Lions club said the games suffered from the economy in recent years.
"Some years, we broke even, one year we lost," he said.
As many as 6,000 people attended in the peak years, but that dropped in the last couple of years, 2011 and 2012.
The all-day festivities were also a lot of work for the small club, especially after a Dublin radio station withdrew its support.
He said the Lions are focusing on their upcoming fishing tournament, April 25-26, which is now their big event for the year.
He said the games could be back in 2015, if new sponsors step up with help and money.
And he admitted that people in Dublin always had mixed emotions about the raucous festival.
"Some people didn't like it, because of the name, but they got used to it. I knew one day, it would fizzle out and it finally did."
