East Dublin 4-year-old drowns in ditch on Valentine's Day, coroner's office says

Trentin Jo'Siah McNear was playing with friends before they found him drowned in a ditch.

EAST DUBLIN, Ga. — An East Dublin family is preparing for the funeral of their 4-year-old after he drowned last week.

Laurens County Deputy Coroner Nathan Stnaley said it happened on Valentine's Day.

Trentin Jo'Siah McNear drowned in a deep ditch that had been filled with water after a recent rain storm.

The 4-year-old was playing with some other kids in the woods behind his grandparent's house on Salter Moon Road.

Just after 5 p.m., the other children came back to McNear's grandmother's house because they could not find him.

The fire department came out to help the search and they ultimately found the little boy drowned in the ditch.

McNear was taken to Fairview Park Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
