82-year-old man with dementia missing from Laurens County

Garland Warren went missing around 3 p.m. and was most recently seen in Fort Valley and Twiggs County on Highway 96

LAURENS COUNTY, Ga. — A man with dementia has gone missing in Laurens County, according to the Laurens County Sheriff’s Office.

82-year-old Garland Warren went missing on Monday at around 3 p.m. He’s described as having gray hair, brown eyes and standing at 5-foot-6, 170-pounds.

The Laurens County Sheriff’s Office also published a Facebook post because Warren has dementia, Lt. Thad DeLoach confirmed.

“We’re not sure where he’s going; we’re not sure if he really knows where he’s going,” DeLoach said. "We think he just left driving, and that he might be disoriented, where he’s going or what his purpose for going where he’s going.”

Warren’s vehicle, a 2003 Toyota Tundra, was last picked up by flock cameras in Fort Valley and Twiggs County on Highway 96. DeLoach estimated that he’s an hour and a half away from the Sheriff’s Office.

DeLoach noted that the flock cameras are accessible by several other agencies. He said these police departments and other Sheriff's offices will be alerted if Warren’s truck is picked up by the flock cameras again.

“We’re hoping that someone will spot him,” DeLoach said. “Somebody that’s been on social media or another agency that saw and may be on routine patrol. Maybe they’ll see him, pull him over and make contact with him and try and get him back to his family.”

The Laurens County Sheriff’s Office is hoping to bring Warren back home to his family soon. They noted that there is a sense of urgency due to his dementia.

Anyone who has seen Warren, his vehicle or has more details should call the Laurens County Sheriff’s Office's Criminal Investigations Unit at 478-272-1522, or should call 911.
