Dublin's mall is starting a multimillion dollar project to revamp its space. The mall has started one of its many updates mapped out for this year.
Robust Wilcher, a shopper, says she's seen a few stores close down including her favorite, Rue 21.
Wilcher says, "Well, for some unknown reason, it closed. Why? I don't know."
The JCPenney store is also empty, but marketing manager Brianna Hamby says a new store may take its place.
Hamby says, "As much as people are saying that it's just vacant and we aren't doing anything, we actually can't legally do anything with that bay until the fall time."
The mall's multimillion dollar project will include updates like carpet to replace cracked tiling and adding energy-efficient LED lighting. Chris Duty says he thinks a new shoe store will bring a younger crowd.
Duty says, "We have 2, and every other mall has 7 or 8."
He says he doesn't see too many shoppers, but he usually notices elderly people walking around.
Duty says, "We have an older community, more of a walking-type of exercising thing going on."
Hamby says she hopes the renovations will show the people that the mall is thriving.
Hamby says, "Basically just to make it a bright and happening place for the community."
The renovations should wrap up around fall, according to Hamby.
