Driver arrested after ramming patrol car in high-speed chase in Macon

The GSP said the chase ended when the vehicle overturned on a dirt road and into a ditch.

MACON, Ga. — A driver has been arrested after ramming a patrol car in a high-speed chase before flipping his vehicle into a ditch, according to the Georgia State Patrol.

The chase was initiated shortly after 9 p.m. on Friday.

Troopers were headed to Pio Nono Avenue in Macon when they saw a car approach one of their patrol cars at a high speed.

The car was going 75 mph in a 55 mph zone. When they tried to stop the car, the car sped up.

Troopers chased the car through Macon near Houston Avenue. They tried several times to stop the car.

The chase continued to Bloomfield Road, where Troopers tried to conduct a PIT maneuver.

The driver of the car then rammed into a patrol car to avoid being stopped, and continued the chase.

The chase continued down multiple more streets, where eventually the driver's reckless maneuvers caused him to lose control of the car on a dirt road.

The car rolled several times, and landed in the ditch.

The driver was then arrested. Their identity has not been released at this time.
