Corrections officers seized drugs, alcohol, cell phones and dozens of homemade weapons during a "shakedown" Tuesday at Telfair State Prison.
That's according to Gwendolyn Hogan, spokeswoman for the state Department of Corrections.
She said it's part of an ongoing campaign to get contraband out of Georgia prisons. She said they've done 23 shakedowns in all this year.
Seized in Telfair Tuesday, according to Hogan:
55 Handmade weapons. She said those weapons were made from locker-box metal, flat metal, fence wire and plastic.

Telfair State Prison remains under lockdown and visitation is canceled due to a recent wave of violence in several Georgia prisons, according to the Department of Corrections.
