Douglass Theatre's HBCU Art Series to raise funds for Central Georgia students

The annual $5,000 scholarship goes toward high school and HBCU-bound students across Central Georgia.

MACON, Ga. — The Douglass Theatre is bringing the HBCU homecoming experience home to Macon.

The theater will host a fundraiser in the spirit of homecoming at Historically Black Colleges and Universities.

It all kicks off Thursday at 6:30 p.m. as part of the Douglass Theater HBCU Art Series.

Proceeds will go towards a scholarship for high school and HBCU students.

"We've established a $5,000 annual scholarship for high school and HBCU-bound students across Central Georgia, and so this event serves as a fundraiser. We want people to engage and come out have a good time," said Dr. Shelton Land with the HBCU Art Series Committee.

Admission costs $20 for adults and $5 for college students.

This is the first year the Douglass Theatre is holding the fundraiser, but they hope to make it an annual event.
