MACON, Ga. — A happy 154th birthday is in order!!
That is for Mr. C.H. Douglass...the man whose name is on the Douglass theater.
On Saturday, the Douglass held a 154th birthday bash with a number of special events and activities to celebrate it's founder.
They included the debut of the latest featured art gallery exhibit curated by the Redd Family Collection of Black Art and the Rainbow Serpent Collective.
The exhibit titled "Pioneers of Purpose" honors significant women in Macon's history which includes Fannie Appling Douglass, the wife of C.H. Douglass.
"We have about 20 pieces from the Redd Family Collection of Black Art that are matched with these 3 walls and really explain symbolically the contributions that these women have made and the impact of the legacy that still resonates today," said Marques Redd.
The Pioneers Of Purpose exhibit will be on display at The Douglass Theatre through April 17.
