A Dooly County teacher was arrested Friday after a fight with a student.
It happened on May 10 at Dooly County Middle School, according to Investigator Richard Eschenbach with the Dooly County Sheriff's Office. Eschenbach says the sheriff's office got the call on May 10 about unruly, “verbally upset” parents at the middle school who were angry because they said their child was in a fight with a teacher at the school.
After speaking with the parents, the student, and the teacher, and reviewing a video provided by the child’s parents, deputies arrested Rickey Weston on Friday, May 18.
Eschenbach says the video shows Weston “physically restraining a child on the ground” and that he “appeared to have his knees on the child’s chest.”
Weston was charged with simple battery and taken to the Dooly County jail. Weston is out on bond.
This case is still under investigation.
