Donnie Rowe pleads not guilty in guards' deaths

One of the prison inmates accused of killing two prison guards in June pleaded not guilty Tuesday.

Inmates Donnie Rowe and Ricky DuBose are charged with the shooting deaths of Sgt. Christopher Monica and Officer Curtis Billue.

Tuesday, Rowe appeared in superior court in Putnam County to enter a "not guilty" plea.

He and DuBose both face several charges, including two counts of murder and felony murder.

Authorities say Rowe and DuBose escaped from a transportation bus that was headed from

Baldwin State Prison to a prison in Jackson.

They were captured several days later in Tennessee.

Prosecutors say they plan to seek the death penalty against the two men.

DuBose also pleaded not guilty in January.
