Confused about trash pickup due to the 4th of July? Here’s all the details

Like any federal holiday, trash pickup and certain businesses won't be operating as usual on July 4th.

MACON, Ga. — With any national holiday, comes a few changes to the usual schedule.

One of which is trash pickup, which will have a few schedule changes on July 4th.

On Thursday, there will be no trash pickup or drop-off in most parts of Central Georgia. Instead, pickup will be delayed one day, according to Ryland Environmental and GFL Environmental.

If your normal pickup is Thursday, your trash will instead be picked up on Friday, July 5. If your trash pickup is on Friday, it will instead be Saturday, July 6.

All trash drop-off will reopen with normal hours starting on Friday.

There were no changes to the schedule for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Trash was collected normally.

Since July 4th is a federal holiday, all government offices will be closed. Post offices and banks will be closed on Thursday. Additionally, all government buildings and offices will be closed on the 4th.

Most retail and restaurant chains will be open on July 4th. This includes stores like Kroger and Publix alongside restaurants like Chick-Fil-A and Texas Roadhouse will remain open.

For any local stores or restaurants, check or call them to see if they’ll remain open for the holiday.
