MACON, Ga. — Macon native DeAndre Hall announced his candidacy for Bibb County Sheriff on Tuesday, according to a press release.
Hall spent over a decade with the Bibb County Sheriff's Office and will hold a press conference about his campaign on Wednesday. The conference is open to the public.
"DeAndre Hall brings a wealth of experience and a strong commitment to public service to his candidacy. During his distinguished career with Macon-Bibb, Hall served in various roles, with his most recent position as a Violent Crimes Investigator, earning recognition and respect from both his colleagues and the community," the release says.
He says his decision to run for Sheriff is rooted in his deep concern for the state of law enforcement in Macon-Bibb County.
The release notes three pillars of Hall's campaign:
- Increasing Manpower and Retention: Hall recognizes the importance of a well-staffed police force and aims to bolster the size of the department while improving retention rates. His vision is to ensure that the community is served by a capable and dedicated team of law enforcement professionals.
- Enhancing City Jail Facilities and Conditions: Hall believes that the conditions within the city jail should be humane and conducive to rehabilitation. He is committed to improving the facilities and conditions for incarcerated individuals, creating a more effective and just system.
- Youth Programs and Community Engagement: Hall is passionate about fostering positive relationships between law enforcement and local communities, especially the youth. He plans to create and support programs aimed at bridging gaps and building trust between the police force and the people they serve.
Two other candidates are also running for Bibb County Sheriff in 2024.
Sheriff David Davis is running for re-election. Hall joins fellow challenger Christopher Paul as they each will look to unseat the incumbent.
