WARNER ROBINS, Ga. — Get your dancing shoes ready and prepare your stomachs because March 2 is the International City Experience in Warner Robins.
You can hear the sounds of Latin music, watch a Polynesian dance performance, and eat food from around the world.
The Cuban Island Cafe is one of the vendors you can try. The restaurant has served food for about 10 years.
"Mostly at lunch time we have jerk chicken with the Cuban sandwich," owner Martin Barajas said.
They also have a full bar and serve different tres leches cakes and other Cuban-inspired dishes.
At the festival, he says some of their main dishes will be Cuban nachos, Cuban fries, ropa veija, and jerk chicken. He hopes this will expose the community to more Cuban food.
Empanadas is Eyana Troup's favorite dish. She's worked at the restaurant going on five years. She says working there opened her palette to new flavors.
"I didn't know really anything about it. I used to go to Florida a lot, so I tried some down there," she said.
After years of handing out plates, and getting a taste herself, she can tell you a thing or two.
"The Cuban sandwich, if you've never tried Cuban food, that's the first thing I'd recommend," Troup said.
She says they're a unique choice in town, they serve up food for the spice lovers and the picky eaters.
"You get a different feel since you don't have a lot of Cuban restaurants around in our area," Troup said.
They hope whether you choose to come dine in or stop by their station at the festival, you try to learn more about Cuban food.
"It will be a long way to Florida to try and get Cuban, we're in the Middle Georgia area, so if you're looking for a new spot to try I would say come try us," Troup said.
You can try their food, see belly dancers, fairytale characters and more at Perkins Field from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m.
The city recommends you bring lawn chairs and picnic blankets, small personal umbrellas, soft-sided coolers, water bottles, and well-behaved leased dogs.
They ask that you don't bring fireworks, drones, glass containers or bottles, alcoholic beverages, rolling coolers, outside food, open drinks, or large beach umbrellas, and tents.
