CRAWFORD COUNTY, Ga. — Up to 1,200 Flint Energies customers were out of power in Crawford County Saturday night due to severe storms.
Crawford County EMA Director Ricky Sharon said the outages affected their emergency communication system, which went out temporarily.
Luckily, he said they were able to get the system back up and running within a few minutes.
Sharon said they were prepared, partially because of training exercises on power outages they had three weeks ago.
"Any type of exercise helps prepare us for meeting the demands and double-checking and everything our procedures so that we're ready to respond," Sharon said.
He said they had to react quickly, because communication between the sheriff's office and the fire department is important.
They made it through by following the procedures they learned during those training exercises.
