UPDATE: 2 dead in crash near Smiley's Flea Market on Highway 247 in Macon identified

The victims are 57-year-old Tommy Keith Smith of Jones County and 20-year-old William Noah Jones of Macon.

MACON, Ga. — UPDATE, 8:40 p.m.:

The victims in the fatal accident on Highway 247 have been identified.

According to the Bibb County Sheriff's Office, the victims are 57-year-old Tommy Keith Smith of Jones County and 20-year-old William Noah Jones of Macon.

UPDATE, 6:28 p.m.:

Bibb deputies are investigating a traffic accident on Hawkinsville Road at its intersection with Cochran Field Road that left two people dead Wednesday evening.

According to a news release from the Bibb County Sheriff's Office, just before 5 p.m., a car pulled out from Cochran Field Road and tried to cross over Hawkinsville Road, crashing into another car headed south. Both cars rolled over and landed in the median.

Both drivers were pronounced dead by Coroner Leon Jones.

This accident is still under investigation.

According to Bibb Coroner Leon Jones, two people were killed in a car accident that happened on Highway 247 Wednesday evening.

It happened just before 5:30 p.m. near Smiley's Flea Market.
