When traveling down Sardis Church Road this week, you may come across what C.W. Matthews Contracting Company calls "Barrel Man."
The company put him together for National Work Zone Awareness Week, according to Alex Dyer, the Senior Superintendent of C. W. Matthews.
"We like for all of our employees to come home just like they came," he said.
The figure was made from constructions barrels and is located near their current work zone on Sardis Church Road in front of Lighthouse Baptist Church.
He says the creation of "Barrel Man' was given to them as a challenge for this week.
"It took us about a half a day to put it together," he said.
It's the first year that the company has taken this angle on promoting work zone safety, but Dyer says he think it will be successful of drawing people's attention to the importance of driving slowly through a work zone.
