'Present your best self' | Community Foundation of Central Georgia has 40 scholarships open for students

Last year, they gave out $431,550 in funds through 176 scholarships. The average scholarship amount each student received was $2,466.

MACON, Ga. — Community Foundation of Central Georgia has 40 scholarships available for students who want to continue higher education.

Last year, they gave out $431,550 in scholarship funds. The average scholarship amount each student received was $2,466. About 86% of the students who were awarded scholarships attend schools in Georgia.

Scholarship Director Monique Pitts-Taylor said she encourages all students who need financial assistance to apply.

"We don't ask you know, not a lot of detailed questions. But we do wanna get to know you. I try to encourage students to see the application as, it's kinda like a introductory. We won't get to meet all the students in person that apply, but we want you to present your best self on paper," Pitts-Taylor said.

They have a variety of scholarships available for different students, pursuing education for things like ballet, nursing and seminary studies

Pitts-Taylor said about 80% of the scholarships are for undergraduate students, but they also have some for older and younger applicants.

The 40 scholarships can be a lot to sort through, so Pitts-Taylor said their website has a universal application for people to fill out. That will direct you to a page showing all the scholarships you're eligible for.

"We try to make it as easy as possible because we know that school is hard. You know, getting into college is hard and so we wanna try to make funding as simple as possible," Pitts-Taylor said.

The scholarship application opened in December, and it will stay open until March 15. You can apply for the scholarships by clicking here.
