Comics Plus of Macon is gearing up to celebrate Free Comic Book Day, which is this Saturday.
The downtown Macon comic book store will have free comic books, activities and some sweet deals, according to manager, Jacob Schulz.
"We will be having a coloring contest at the very front of the store as well as handing out the 50 different types of free comic books," Schulz said about the celebration. "Currently, we're making sure all of our stock is on the shelves and neatly presented."
There will also be face painting and a store-wide sale throughout the day.
"It will be 20 percent off new comics, it will be 50 percent off trades and we will have various other sales throughout different product," he said about the deals.
Certain items will be available as free comic book exclusives, so once they are sold out, they will no longer be available.
Schulz says there will also be a showing of the Wonder Woman movie at the Tubman Museum to celebrate the day on Saturday.
Free Comic Book Day was started as a way to end illiteracy.
"It would promote kids to read books and get in and want to actually learn about these different superheroes and these different storylines," Schulzs said.
The store will open around noon on Saturday and stay open until 8 p.m.
Comics Plus is located in downtown Macon at 502 Cherry Street.
