Coliseum Northside Hospital completes expansion for emergency rooms

CEO Greg Caples says this will improve patient wait times.

Two years and $4 million later, Coliseum Northside Hospital has completed their emergency room expansion.

This expansion added six beds to the existing ER for a total of 18 beds.

CEO Greg Caples says doctors and nurses will be getting a first look at the space on Tuesday.

With over 3,000 visits per room per year, Caples says before this project was finished, many of them took care of patients without enough space.

He says this will improve patient wait times.

"So the main improvement that we get from this is the ability to get patients into rooms. We have six additional exam rooms, and so it give us the ability to get into rooms quicker and seen faster and to feel more dignity by having their privacy respected better than if they are out in the hall or in the waiting room for a long time," Caples says.

The new emergency rooms will be officially ready for service July 1st.
