A Cochran man is asking the person who stole over $1,500 worth of bass fishing equipment to return it.
Frank Walker has collected rods and tackle boxes full of fishing lures for more than 30 years. Whether he is competing or he is with his buddies on the lake, he loves every minute, especially now that he is retired.
The former Bleckley County High track coach is worried he will have to give up that dream after someone stole his prized equipment.
A Cochran police incident report says someone climbed into the second story of his shed through a cracked window and stole the equipment. They're still trying to reel in the burglar.
Walker, who is 77, said they took four rods, three tackle boxes and a duffel bag full of plastic worms.
"I'm not rich enough to jump up and replace this, so they've really just destroyed my dream," said Walker.
He said he just hopes whoever did this will return the equipment because he can't replace those memories.
"The friendship I have gained over those 33 years, outstanding memories, and some of these lures and things that I lost are actually things I was fishing with during that time, and it brings back those memories," Walker said.
He has a simple message for the thief. "You've really put a curve in my bass fishing and I would love to... Please feel sorry for me and return things. I will forgive you," he said.
Walker said he won't press charges if all of the equipment is returned.
He just wants to get back on the water and keep fishing.
