WARNER ROBINS, Ga. — Pastor Vince Harrington said No Limit Baptist Church has had a warming center for years.
"We don't want anyone to be left out," Harrington said.
Harrington said this year has truly been a blessing, with a partnership from the city of Warner Robins.
"This is our first time partnering with the city...which makes a big difference of course. It makes us more effective we can reach more," Harrington said.
The city is providing transportation for the homeless to the warming center. Harrington said numbers are already growing from last year.
"We were getting maybe four or five. Now, we're up around 15 and more so it makes that reach that much greater," Harrington said.
Not only do the numbers increase, but Harrington said it expands the perimeter of people they can reach.
"It also helps us in that we can tap into more in the city and that more people come together," Harrington said.
The warming center services adult men and women. It's open whenever the temperature is projected to be below freezing.
"So we give cots, sleeping bags, so they have a warm place to sleep. Heated trailers that they sleep in and then before they leave, we want to give them a hot meal in the morning and then we give them a snack to take with them throughout the day," Harrington said.
Harrington said this is all part of the church.
"In Matthew 25 it says how do you know a sheep from a goat? It says you know when I was naked you clothed me. In prison you came to see me. That's our goal as a church is to reach people, to help them with their needs, to be there. If the church doesn't reach out the walls, then it's not an effective church," Harrington said.
