City of Forsyth names Woodrow Blue Chief of Police

This comes after former Police Chief Eddie Harris stepped down in August after 30+ years.

FORSYTH, Ga. — The Forsyth Police Department has found its new chief.

According to a news release from the City of Forsyth, Woodrow Blue has been named Chief of Police. His first day on the job will be Monday, December 19.

This comes after former Police Chief Eddie Harris stepped down in August after 30+ years.

The release says Blue has 43 years of law enforcement experience, 38 of those years as a Chief of Police.

Blue also served in as Association President of the Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police from July 2010 to July 2011, Sergeant of Arms committee and Traffic Safety Advisory Group with the International Association of Chiefs of Police, as well as a member of the Georgia Peace Officer Standard and Training Council from July 2010 to July 2011.

Blue comes to Forsyth after he recently resigned his position in Donalsonville, Georgia where he served as Chief of Police from 2015.  Prior to Donalsonville, Blue served as Chief of Police in East Point, Milledgeville, and Hahira.

The City of Forsyth will hold a Meet & Greet on Monday at 4 p.m. at City Hall located at 23 East Main Street. It is open to the public, and a ceremonial swearing in will be held during the City Council meeting at 6 p.m. following the Meet & Greet.
