UPDATE, 3:50 p.m.:
Forsyth Mayor Eric Wilson says at around 11:30 a.m. Sunday, crews learned there was a water main break in a line that supplies fresh water coming from a water treatment plant over in Russellville to the rest of the city.
The tanks were reported to be losing 800 to 1,000 gallons of water per minute, emptying two of their elevated tanks in town.
Wilson said crews were working for about an hour and a half from when they were notified about the break. He is reiterating that people need to conserve water for the next 24 hours.

UPDATE, 2:55 p.m.:
Forsyth Mayor Eric Wilson says the water main break has been repaired. Wilson says it is still necessary to limit your water usage over the next 24 hours to allow the ground tanks and system to refill and regain pressure.
-----------
Monroe County Emergency Management Agency is asking people in Forsyth to conserve water due to a major water main break.
According to a post on the Monroe EMA Facebook page, the line that supplies water from the treatment plant has ruptured, causing low pressure throughout the west side of town. Areas west of the Square, Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, Sharp Street, Highways 83 and 42 South will be experiencing low pressure or a total outage.
The post asks residents to limit their water usage over the next 24 hours, asking for "no unnecessary usage and absolutely no outdoor water use. Strictly limit washing clothes, dishes and showers."
The outage applies to city water customers only, not county water customers.
Crews are working to fix the break. No estimation has been given on when the break will be repaired.
