Cirrus Academy holds second annual 'Soup for the Soul' event in Macon

The community project was all about serving soup to those in need, especially now that cold temperatures are here.

MACON, Ga. — A STEM charter school in Macon on Saturday held a community event to help those in need during the cold weather.

Cirrus Academy held their second annual "Soup for the Soul" event, where volunteers came together to serve soup and sandwiched to those in need.

People who showed up not only received a nice hot meal, but also left with care packages, toiletries, blankets, and more. 

The school partnered with Daybreak, Macon Outreach, Fish and Loaves, and New Faith Christian Church in Macon to help everything run smoothly.

Representatives for the event said they wanted their students to learn more about food insecurity and how they can help, and show that kindness matters.

They also said the wanted to show the community that unhoused people are real, and so is the food insecurity problem in Macon. 

They served over 100 sandwiches and soups, along with over 50 care bags.
