MACON, Ga. — The Macon Cherry Blossom Festival has announced their third major headliner for the nightly concert series coming up in March of 2024.
In a release, they announced rapper Lupe Fiasco was added to the lineup as they wanted to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Hip-Hop.
The Grammy-award-winning artist will take the stage on Friday, March 22, at the Coca-Cola Entertainment Stage at Carolyn Crayton Park.
Lupe Fiasco grew up in Chicago and gained notoriety in the music scene after the release of his 2006 album "Food & Liquor," which helped cement a new wave of Chicago rappers in the national conversation.
His success was widespread, and he even won GQ’s Man of the Year in 2006 and garnered recognition as a Henry Crown Fellow.
Since "Food & Liquor," the rapper has released six studio albums, which have produced 3 platinum singles, 3 RIAA Gold Certifications, 12 Grammy nominations and one Grammy Award in 2008 for his single, “Daydreamin,” feat Jill Scott.

Lupe Fiasco also gives back to his community, and is the co-founder and co-owner of several programs like We Are M.U.R.A.L, The Neighborhood Start-Up Fund, Society of Spoken Art, and Studio SV. The release says he is "more than just a mouthpiece for change, but a committed facilitator of intellectual community discourse and outreach."
The Cherry Blossom Concert series features "local, regional, and national artists performing each night of the 10-day festival," according to their website.
