High-speed chase ends with motorcycle crash in Monroe County

The motorcyclist wrecked as he tried to get off the interstate during a chase

FORSYTH, Ga. — Georgia State Patrol is investigating a high-speed chase and subsequent wreck involving a motorcycle Thursday evening.

According to GSP, a trooper clocked a black motorcycle going 90 mph in a 70 mph zone on I-75S in Henry County.

The trooper tried to stop the driver, but the driver took off and a chase continued down to the Johnstonville Road exit in Monroe County.

The driver, identified as 31-year-old Daniel Tonnessen of Barnesville, crashed as he tried to exit the interstate.

He was taken into custody and to the Monroe County hospital to be checked for injuries before being released and taken to the Henry County jail.

Tonnessen is charged with aggressive driving, fleeing and attempting to elude, speeding, reckless driving, following too closely, failure to exercise care and improper passing.

He was released on a $5,320 bond around 1 a.m. Friday.
