A camper in Jones County is getting a lot of attention. That’s because of what’s been spray painted all over it -- the word, "pedophile." A nearby neighbor says she’s now worried for her safety and others.
“I hear them squeaking, almost having accidents,” Tolisa Cannon said. “They come into the driveway daily, at night, just whenever they want to. They take pictures and I’m sure they want to know what’s going on.”
Cannon lives next door to the camper, and says the eyesore and onlookers have her worried.
“I don’t want anybody’s life to be lost,” Cannon said. “I don’t want my property damaged because people think it’s a show.”
Cannon says she wishes the camper would disappear, but she doesn't think it will happen anytime soon.
“I actually asked them to move it, please move it,” Cannon said. “'Nope, it will stay there and that’s not your property. Don’t concern yourself with it.'”
She says she can’t help but be concerned since it’s just steps from where she sleeps at night.
“My sister and I have lived here in this home our entire life,” Cannon said. “We’re no threat to anyone, and it is not us. If we could move it, we would.”
Jones County Sheriff Butch Reese says they are aware of the situation, but he says it's a family matter with the owner of the camper.
