BYRON, Ga. — Byron police are looking for a missing 96-year-old man, according to Byron Police Chief Wesley Cannon.
Cannon said they are looking for Carlton Cook, who lives in Byron. He said Cook has been missing since around 1:30 p.m. on Monday.
Cook suffers from short-term memory loss, according to his family, but does not have any immediate medical conditions other than that. Cannon said the family believes Cook left to go to the bank and the post office, which are the only places he travels to on his own.
Cook’s car was located in Monroe County using Flock cameras, per the report. He is driving a White Buick LeSabre. His vehicle was spotted going north on Highway 41 near Dixie Drive.
Cannon says there are multiple Byron police officers searching for Cook in Monroe County.
This is an ongoing search. 13WMAZ will continue to update this story as new information becomes available. If you see Cook or his car, the Byron Police Department urges you to call 911.
