JACKSON, Ga. — A 50-year-old Jackson man was arrested and charged on Monday with Felony Murder in a hit-and-run case from last Friday, the GBI announced in a press release.
Nathan Shane Upchurch was arrested in the death of 51-year-old Brooke Bedard Sides, who was found dead in her drive near Watkins Park and Pool Road.
According to the GBI, Sides and Upchurch had gone and out, but when they returned home, they began fighting, the press release said.
As Upchurch was leaving the home, the GBI said that he ran over Sides on his way out. Butts County Sheriff's Office deputies found her dead on the driveway.
Upchurch was arrested and booked into the Butts County Jail.
When the investigation is completed, the case will be handed to the Butts County District Attorney's Office for prosecution.
The GBI notes that the investigation is still ongoing. Anyone with information can call the Baldwin County Sheriff's Office at 478-445-5102 or the GBI regional investigative office in Milledgeville at 478-445-4173.
The Butts County Sheriff's Office requested the GBI to step in and help aid in their death investigation on Monday.
