HOUSTON COUNTY, Ga. — Donna Hunter Glenn's father was Billy Hunter, a former Warner Robins police chief, and his loss was difficult for her to deal with.
"Even at the age of 48 years old, I still needed that hug, that comfort, from my father, so I got some shirts of his, they were button down, and wasn't much of a seamstress or anything like that, but I created this pillow," Glenn said.
Glenn's friends convinced her to add memorial pillows to her existing 'Donna's Designs' business after they noticed how much comfort and encouragement the pillow brought her. Instead, she donates these pillows free of charge.
Each pillow is complete with the officer's picture, department badge, badge number, and the end of watch date.
Then, officers from the Warner Robins Police Department hand deliver the pillows to family members at the funerals.
On Wednesday, Sergeant Randy Evans brought a pillow to the children of a fallen deputy at a funeral in Hall County for Deputy Nicolas Dixon.
Dixon was killed in the line of duty last week.
Glenn says hearing from families will keep her motivated to keep make more pillows.
"I heard through Deputy Dixon's that their little boy, who was nine years old, took the pillow with him after the funeral home and she found him cuddled up with it next to him," she said.
Glenn works out of a workshop behind her home.
