MACON, Ga. — The Bibb County Sheriff's Office is investigating after a body was found dead on Christmas Eve, according to a press release.
They say they got calls about a shooting that happened on Saturday in the 1300 block of Fort Hill Street around 2 p.m.
When deputies got there they talked with a few people who said there were no shots fired in the area.
Deputies checked the area and did not see any signs of a shooting, the release says.
Around 7 a.m. on Christmas Eve, the E911 Center started getting calls from anonymous sources who gave minimal information as to what happened and where the victim of the shooting was.
Deputies were then sent to multiple locations and talked to people in the areas.
The release says they later got information that the victim, 52-year-old Artice Pettigrew’s, body was hidden in the back of a vehicle at a home in the 1300 block of Fort Hill Street.
Investigators along with patrol deputies returned to the address in the 1300 block of Fort Hill Street just after 1 p.m. and were able to locate the victim.
They do not know what led up to the shooting at this time.
No one else was injured during the incident and next of kin has been notified per Deputy Coroner Lonnie Miley.
This incident is still under investigation. Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact the Bibb Sheriff’s Office at 478-751 -7500 or Macon Regional Crime Stoppers at 1-877-68CRIME.
