A Bibb County Sheriff’s deputy is involved in an illegal gambling case.

At a press conference, Macon Judicial Circuit District Attorney David Cooke said an investigation over "many months" led to a multi-jurisdictional racketeering enterprise.

Several people were charged on Tuesday as a result of the investigation, including Bibb deputy Rahim McCarley.

The GBI and state department revenue raided the RJS on Pio Nono Avenue and two other Macon stores on Tuesday morning.

Cooke says the store is owned by McCarley.

He says he's filed arrest warrants for racketeering against McCarley and four other men and that more arrests are possible.

Cooke says officers have evidence that McCarley participated in a bribery, tax evasion, and money laundering scheme that took nearly half a million dollars in profits.

Cooke did not release further details but said some of the suspects paid bribes to state employees.

The Georgia Department of Revenue is still investigating.

Bibb County Sheriff's Office says until the department of revenue has completed their investigation, McCarley will remain employed.
