The annual Teacher of the Year celebration happened at Macon's Grand Opera House.

The ceremony featured music from Howard High School's string quartet, and food Catered by students of the W.S. Hutchings College and Career Academy.
Superintendent Dan Sims spoke at the event to recognize the hardworking finalists, and Collins shared what it means to her to be named a top Bibb County teacher
"To win this award, not only as a teacher, but as a physical education teacher, just means the world because you hear so many people think about how impactful coaches have been in their life, but it's often a profession or area of teaching that sometimes get overlooked," Collins said.
The nominees received a $100 VISA gift card and the Bibb Retired Educators Association also presented Collins with a certificate of recognition and a check.
