MACON, Ga. — It was a day of fun and learning at Amerson River Park Saturday afternoon in honor of Earth Day!
Bibb County Extension hosted an event on the great lawn at the park today to help people gain a greater appreciation for the earth.
Children could through sand looking for bits of trash to recycle, and vendors were on hand to teach them how to recycle responsibly.
You could also buy native plants to spruce up your yard, and learn about them too!
"Some of the kids activities are focused on litter prevention and water cycles and pollinator plants. We have the native plant society here talking about the importance of planting native plants versus invasive species. We have to remember to stay in touch with our environment and protect it when we can on a daily basis," said County Extension Coordinator Carol Kelly.
If you missed the event on Saturday, you can still celebrate on earth day, which is Monday.
