BOWLING GREEN, Ohio — Bowling Green State University Dining has launched a new sustainability initiative aimed at reducing food waste and supporting a local animal shelter. The program, called "Waste Not, Wag a Lot," transforms food scraps from the University’s Social House Dining Hall into dog treats.

In partnership with Chartwells Higher Education, BGSU Dining is using approved food scraps to create "high-quality" treats. The treats will be donated to the Wood County Dog Shelter. The program aims to help the University take an eco-friendly approach to food waste.

The program will be highlighted during Falconsgiving, BGSU’s Thanksgiving event, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 21. Students will have the chance to take home treats for their own dogs, while learning more about the sustainability efforts behind the program.
