Bands compete in 'Bragg Jamuary' battle

The "battle of the bands"-style tournament will take place every Thursday night in January at JBA on Martin Luther King Junior Boulevard in downtown Macon.

MACON, Ga. — Thursday night, three bands took the stage in hopes of performing on the main stage at Bragg Jam this summer.

Throughout the month of January, Bragg Jam and JBA are teaming up to bring you "Bragg Jamuary."

The "battle of the bands"-style tournament will take place every Thursday night in January at JBA on Martin Luther King Junior Boulevard in downtown Macon.

Program Coordinator Brandon Bish says the atmosphere at JBA is perfect for musicians to share their talent with others.

"It's got a great, great local scene. Musicians come here all the time just to do an open mic night. People will bring their guitars and their drums, they'll hook it up and play. I think that's really important because there really hasn't been a place like this. JBA just has a huge community feel," said Bish.

The voting for Thursday night's bands begins online Friday and runs until next Wednesday at midnight.

The Bragg Jamuary Tournament continues throughout the month of January, every Thursday night from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m.

The final winner will perform at the Hargray Capital Theatre during Jam Fest in July.
