MACON, Ga. — Several Bibb families will be able to sleep a little better tonight after receiving a brand new mattress and bedframe from Ashley Furniture Homestore.
The store gave away 40 mattresses and bedframes to 20 different local families in Bibb County School District.
It was all part of their 'Hope to Dream' program, which has been providing children in need with twin mattresses, bed frames, and pillows since 2010.
According to the company's website, they believe that "every child should have a good night's sleep and a bed to call their own."
They say that since the program's start, they have given over 140,000 beds to children in need.
Parent Shazaria Williams, who has students in the Youthbuild program at SOAR Academy and Weaver Middle School, thanked the social work and counseling from Bibb County to allow them to receive the assistance.
"...Well through my counselor, miss Angela Solomon. She let us know that they was giving away beds and she knew my situation so she helped us get them," she said.
The event lasted from 9:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. on Saturday.
