UPDATE: No arrest made in bomb threat at Blue Bird plant in Fort Valley

A possible suspect was taken into custody in Americus, but has not been charged. The case has been turned over to the FBI and GBI.

FORT VALLEY, Ga. — CORRECTION: According to Peach County Sheriff Terry Deese, law enforcement picked up a possible suspect in Americus, but she has not been charged. The case remains under investigation.

Law enforcement questioned a woman suspected of making a bomb threat against the Blue Bird factory in Fort Valley.

The woman allegedly made contact with an employee and said there was a bomb inside the Blue Bird plant. The company manufactures bus parts.

Management evacuated the facility Thursday and bomb-sniffing dogs from three surrounding law enforcement agencies, including the Peach County Sheriff’s Office arrived at the factory to search for a bomb.

Fort Valley police say the suspect was identified within minutes and was taken into custody Thursday in Americus by Americus police and GBI agents.

The case is now in the hands of the FBI and GBI for further investigation.

Fort Valley police posted Friday morning that the suspect was arrested, but Sheriff Terry Deese says that's incorrect, and police have updated their Facebook post.
