Macon based formal wear store to close at the end of August

The owners, Bettie S. Causey and H. Chris Causey announced on Facebook that they'll be retiring.

MACON, Ga. — After 59 years of being open, one Macon bridal shop and formal wear store is closing its doors.

House of Hines Formal Wear announced in a Facebook post on Thursday they'll be closing on Aug. 31.

Owners Bettie S. Causey and H. Chris Causey said while they've loved serving Macon and Central Georgia for nearly 60 years, it was time to retire.

"As we retire, we reflect on the countless memories, friendships and moments of joy we have shared with each of you," the post said. "Our journey has been enriched by your patronage, and we leave with hearts full of appreciation."

The original owner and founder, Hines V. Causey, started the formal wear boutique back in 1965. The post said the former singer noticed while performing at weddings there was a need for a formal wear store in Central Georgia.

Since then, they've sold a wide array of wedding gowns, tuxedos, bridesmaid dresses, formal gowns, prom dresses and other accessories.

After Hines V. Causey's death in 2022, other members of the Causey family took over and kept the shop going.

"For nearly six decades, we have had the honor and privilege of serving you, our cherished customers, and being a part of this community," they said. "Your loyalty and support have been the cornerstone of our success, and we are profoundly grateful for the trust you placed in us."

They've been a staple in the community, earning rave testimonials and reviews on and off their website.

For now, the Causey's are set to move into the next chapter of their lives, but said they won't forget the people and relationships they made along the way.

"Thank you for allowing us to be a part of your lives and for supporting the House of Hines through the years," they said. "We will always treasure the relationships we have built and the impact we have made together."
