WARNER ROBINS, Ga. — Warner Robins native and Miss Georgia Kelsey Hollis finished in the top 5 Thursday night on the Miss America stage, coming in as the fourth runner-up. She receives a $10,000 scholarship.
All night long, fans cheered her on at a watch party at Rigby's in Warner Robins.
On the first night of the competition this week, Hollis won a Social Impact scholarship for her advocacy of autism awareness.
Lasandra Anderson knows Miss Georgia from her twin sons that went to high school with her.
"Kelsey, she is a very amazing young lady. Throughout high school, she would have a pageant for the special needs young ladies," Anderson said.
Seychelle Hercules says she competed in pageants with Hollis for more than five years.
"Just very welcoming and loving, and just a beautiful spirit overall," Hercules said.
Folks cheered Hollis on as she advanced to the top 5. The pageant consists of an evening gown portion, talent performances, and a social impact portion.
Miss Wisconsin Grace Stanke took home the Miss America crown.
She receives a $50,000 scholarship, and a yearlong national tour to advocate for the social issue she has chosen.
