86-year-old woman killed, 3 hospitalized in Milledgeville wreck

Georgia State Patrol is investigating after a fatal accident in Milledgeville on Wednesday morning

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. — An 86-year-old woman was killed and three people were hospitalized after an accident in Milledgeville on Wednesday morning.

According to Georgia State Patrol, it happened around 7:10 a.m. at the intersection of North Jefferson Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Drive.

They say that 86-year-old Mary Jane Beall was driving her Honda Accord on North Jefferson Street when she turned left onto MLK Jr. Drive.

Beall was hit on the right side by a Chevy Tahoe driven by 21-year-old Devonta’ Edwards, of Eatonton, who was going south on Jefferson Street.

The collision caused Beall to hit a utility pole, and sent Edwards into a Nissan Versa Note stopped on MLK Jr. Drive.

Beall was injured and taken to Navicent Health Baldwin, where she later died.

Edwards, Melba Minter (the driver of the Versa), and her 16-year-old passenger, were taken to the Navicent Health Medical Center for their injuries.

The crash is still under investigation.
