MACON, Ga. — It's time to celebrate Independence Day. Take a look at some of the ways to celebrate July 4th in Central Georgia.
17 Annual Independence Day Celebration
When: June 29 at 2 p.m. Until
Where: Downtown Alamo
The Alamo Fire Department is sponsoring its annual fireworks celebration for the 4th of July. There will be live entertainment all through the day and the Southern Confessional Band will be performing. There will be an Antique Tractor display, food, arts and crafts and rids for the children. Fifth annual Celebrate Freedom event in Byron
When: July 3 from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at the Assembly @ Warner Robins.
The Assembly At Warner Robins is holding its fifth annual Celebrate Freedom event. The Independence celebration will have food trucks, a splash pad and a free firework show.
Admission is free, but you can reserve a spot here.
Jarrell Plantation Historic Site 'Ol' Time Fourth' Celebration
When: July 4 from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.
The Jarrell Plantation Historic Site in Juliette is celebrating the 4th of July with live bluegrass, relay races, carnival games and demos of farm life. The historic site plans to have the farm “come to life,” on Independence Day.
There will be a live reading of the Declaration of Independence, where attendees can listen in on America's history.
Admission ranges from $4 to $6.50, as event admission pricing varies.
Ingleside July 4th Parade
When: 10 a.m.
The annual July 4th parade in Ingleside will kick off on Riverdale for a spirited celebration of Independence Day.
4th of July celebration in Fort Valley at Lane Southern Orchards
When: July 4 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m
Lane Southern Orchards is hosting 4th of July festivities.Adults can enjoy a wine tasting, while kids will have their own play area with water slides and bouncy houses. Additionally, there will be free face painting and a free foam party from 3 pm to 5 p.m.
Food options include hamburgers, hot dogs, foot-long corn dogs, pulled pork, bratwurst and more.
$12 will get you unlimited access all day.
City of Perry's old-timey 4th of July and 200th birthday celebration
When: July 4 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Perry is hosting an Independence Day celebration, which corresponds with the city’s 200th birthday. The city has planned a nostalgic celebration concluded with the main event: a firework show. There will be a shoeshine stand, photo booths and a beauty shop quartet.
The event will also have plenty of food trucks and giveaways.
Southern Pines Regional Park Independence Day celebration in Dublin
When: July 6 at 9 p.m. in Southern Pines Regional Park.
The city of Dublin will “let freedom ring,” with a 4th of July celebration.
The night will feature a fireworks display at 9 p.m. Admission is free, and the park encourages people to bring chairs and blankets to enjoy the show.
4th of July Royal Icing Cookie Class in Jackson
When: June 22 at 11 a.m. at Fig and Fern Home Collection
The High Falls Cookie Company is hosting a 4th of July royal icing cookie class.
The class is designed for beginners, cookie decorating enthusiasts or those simply “frustrated” with royal icing. The bakery will provide the cookies, icing, sprinkles and a box to take the cookies home.
The class will last for about an hour and a half. Ages eight and up are allowed to participate, however, if parents wish to attend alone, a take-home kit is available for $25. The class is $50 per person and seats must be reserved online. You can reserve a spot here.
City of Centerville Independence Day Celebration:
When: June 28 between 6 p.m. and 10 p.m.
The City of Centerville is ramping up for a fun-filled Independence Day celebration. The event will include food trucks, yard games, live music and a DJ. But as a grand finale, there will be a drone show including "150 state-of-the-art drones" that will "dazzle spectators with patriot animations" over Center Park, the press release said.
The park is located 103 E Church Street. Admission is free.
City of Warner Robins 41st Annual Independence Day Concert
When: June 29 at 6 p.m. at the McConnel-Talbert Stadium parking lot.
The City of Warner Robins is holding its 41st Annual Independence Day Celebration. The event is presented by the City of Warner Robins and The Warner Robins Convention and Visitors Bureau.
No tickets are required and gates open at 6 p.m. Jefferson Starship and Scott Stapp — the lead vocalist of the band Creed — will headline concert. AJ The DJ Entertainment will perform before Stapp and Jefferson Starship. The concert will be followed by a fireworks sponsored by Robins Financial Credit Union.
Milledgeville Fireworks Show
When: June 29 just after dark
The city of Milledgeville is hosting its annual Independence Day firework celebration.
The event will be hosted at Central Georgia Technical College’s campus. While CGTC’s parking lot will be closed, the show can also be viewed at Walter B. Williams Park and the parking lot of the Board of Education.
The show will kick off just after dark when the sun sets.
Cochran-Bleckley Independence Day Celebration
When: Food opens at 6 p.m. and fireworks start at 9 p.m.
The Cochran-Bleckley Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring the inaugural Cochran-Bleckley Independence Day Celebration on July 4.
The event is also being sponsored by the Cochran Downtown Development Authority, and will feature food trucks, games, a live DJ, fireworks and more.
The celebration will be held behind the courthouse downtown, between Cherry Street and Dykes Street. The festivities will open at 6 p.m., and the event will conclude with a fireworks show at 9 p.m.
Sparks Over the Park at Lake Tobesofkee
When: fireworks start at 9:15 p.m. but the Gates for all Lake Tobesofkee parks (Claystone, Sandy Beach, and Arrowhead) will open from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.
This will be Lake Tobesofkee’s 28th year of fireworks on Thursday, July 4.
During the day, guests can enjoy the lake for swimming, boating, picnics and more.
The Rescue Dogs will be performing live from 6:30-9:30 p.m. at Sandy Beach Park.
The park with the best view for fireworks is Sandy Beach while at Claystone, the best view is at the west end of the beach, according to a press release.
Admission to the parks is $3 per person and children ages six and under are free.
No alcohol or glass containers are allowed in the parks.
