April Fools' Day was alive and well. Here's a look at some of the ways Central Georgians got involved in the April Fools' festivities

MACON, Ga. — When April 1 rolls around, the tricks come out — and unfortunately, there are no treats.

Locally, there were a few April Fools Day tricks that caused some alarm, excitement and then, laughs.

Here are three local April Fools jokes circulating online this April 1 here in Central Georgia.

Popular Macon bar shutting its doors?

The Hummingbird Stage and Taproom posted on its Facebook page that it had a "SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT."

"It's with a heavy heart that we inform you that The Hummingbird Stage & Taproom will cease all operation starting on Tuesday, April 2nd," the post reads. "Without going into too much detail, our building has been sold and we're making way for new downtown lofts. We appreciate the near 19 years of support from all of you."

But at the end of the post, the bar mentioned how they'll be "FOOLIN' around."

"You're welcome to say goodbye to your favorite downtown dive starting at 4pm. We'll be FOOLIN' around all day long," the post read.

However, they ended the message with a winking emoji to convey that the established bar isn't going anywhere.

The post has garnered 215 shares and 130 comments. Some of the re-posters caught on to the gag, but others genuinely believed the post was real.

Chick-fil-A in Jones County:

While Dublin is celebrating a Chick-fil-A about to open its doors this Thursday, some Jones County residents had a laugh at a sign that was erected at an empty lot on Gray Highway.

It says: "Coming soon! Chick-Fil-A"

A sign in Jones County is saying there's a new Chick-fil-A coming to the county. Neighbors aren't convinced.

However, many neighbors are not convinced. They're pretty sure it's an April Fool's gag.

A post in a Jones County Facebook post says: "Alright yall!!! Who put the 'coming soon' Chick-fil-A sign besides [sic] the Dairy Queen" with the laughing emoji.

While we can't say for sure that it isn't real, we reached out to Chick-fil-A corporate for comment. They haven't gotten back to us.

So, in the time being, with its conveniently coming up on April Fool's, it is safe to say it's worth taking this announcement with a grain of salt.

Natural wonder coming to Jackson?

It's not a Deer, it's not a Zebra. No, Dauset Trails Nature Center says they've got a special addition to their family: "a Zeer."

In a Facebook post, they unveiled the ungodly creation.

"Dauset Trails warmly welcomes the newest addition to our family - a Zeer!" the post read. "A unique blend of deer and zebra, we’re thrilled to have him join us at Dauset Trails."

It's unclear where the Zeer came from, how the Dauset Trails Center got their hands on one or what mad scientist created it and how.

But one commenter questioned the ethics of the dreaded "Zeer" saying, "Y'all out here playing Jurassic Park with these animals!"

However, this April Fools gag made quite a splash, with a whopping 877 shares and 274 comments as of 9 p.m.
