BARNESVILLE, Ga. — A 15-year-old boy from Barnesville was killed last week after being struck by a car while riding a scooter, according to the Georgia State Patrol.
It happened Aug. 19 at around 9:19 p.m. on State Route 36 near Midway Road in Lamar County.
According to the state patrol, it appears a black electric scooter was traveling west when a Gold Toyota Echo was approaching from behind. They say the scooter did not have taillights.
That's when the Toyota struck the boy, throwing them from the scooter, the state patrol said. They say he would die from his injuries.
A passenger in the Toyota was also taken to Upson Regional Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
They say the investigation is still under investigation. Information can change as the investigation moves forward.
