MACON, Ga. — A 20-month-old is dead after an overnight fight near Houston Avenue in Macon, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies went out to the 3800 block of Flamingo Drive just after 12:05 a.m. after a 911 call and found a woman who had been injured in a fight.
The victim said 19-year-old Akiem Jamal Jordan who assaulted her was her granddaughter’s father. After the fight, Jordan took the 1-year-old child and left.
The woman was taken to a local hospital for treatment and a BOLO was issued for Jordan and his white car.
Just after 3 a.m., deputies located the vehicle in the 2000 block of Old Clinton Road, which is just over 7 miles away from where the fight took place.
Akiem Jordan was holding the child inside the car. The baby, 20-month-old Bella Jordan, was not responsive and was pronounced dead at the scene by Deputy Coroner Lonnie Miley. An autopsy will be done at the GBI Crime Lab to determine the cause of death.
Miley told 13WMAZ that the baby appeared to have been beaten and possibly stabbed. She would have turned 2 on May 10th, according to Miley.
Jordan has been charged with murder and three counts of aggravated assault. A second person, Rahem Devar Ferrell also faces charges of murder and two counts of aggravated assault. Both are being held without bond.
Anyone with information can call the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office at 478-751-7500 or Macon Regional Crime Stoppers at 1-877-68CRIME.
